ClearCAD is the next logical step from my previous project, Guided Hand. This project allows people to touch and feel the virtual models they make, all using a haptic feedback device by 3DSystems and a Hololens to create a direct overlay of the haptics and augmented reality. The experience is delightful and engaging, as users can be immersed in their design work and have a more intimate relationship with the digital world they are creating in.

The ultimate goal is for clearCAD and Guided Hand to meld together into a single workflow in which digital creation overlaid with AR, haptic feedback, and fabrication all happen simultaneously, such that the design process outputs both a digital and a physical model simultaneously for the designer to immediately react to, and easily iterate. This can enable a more efficient and stronger feedback loop of making and reflecting in design, essentially reflection in action.
